    Description

    Presented for auction or sale is a Vintage U.S. Mail front piece of a mail door slot. The item measures 7 5/8 inches in length, 3 3/4 inches in width, the main frame is 1/4 inches in thickness, weighing 1 pound 8 ounces. The slot measures 5 3/4 inches in length and 1 1/2 inches in height. All measurements are approximate. The composition of the metal is either Brass or Bronze. These numbers and letters are stamped on the back of the door flap, CA40 US LL. This is only the front piece. I don't know if a back plate was used with this door slot. This item is a fine architectural item dating back to the middle of the last Century.
